Site overview

Open a WordPress site and you land on its Overview (/sites/:srv/:dom) — a health cockpit that answers “is this site OK, and does it need anything?” at a glance, then hands you off to the section that does the work. It’s read-only by design: a dashboard and a set of shortcuts, not another place to edit things. Available on all plans.

What you’ll see

• Quick actions (top of the page) — View live opens the site, wp-admin jumps into the WordPress admin via magic login (no password), and Cache opens the site’s cache manager.
• At a glance — a status strip of pills: online/offline, HTTPS with days left on the certificate (it warns under 15 days), WordPress version, PHP version, disk size and database size.
• Needs attention — pending updates. If updates are waiting, it links you straight to Plugins with the count; otherwise it’s a green “everything is up to date,” alongside how many plugins and themes are installed.
• Traffic · last 24h — Requests, Unique IPs, Errors (it flags any 5xx) and Bot hits. These come from the server’s own web logs, so there’s no analytics tag to install.
• Content — Posts, Pages, Categories and Tags with their counts, each a click-through to that management section.
• Recent posts — the last five posts, each opening in the editor.

How it works

Overview reads everything live through the site’s agent and never mutates anything:

• Health & traffic come from a site.stats job — WordPress/PHP versions, disk and database size, plugin/theme and update counts, and the 24-hour traffic block parsed from the box’s Nginx access log. The result is cached on the box so the page loads instantly.
• Certificate days remaining come from MZPanel’s fleet SSL cache, so the HTTPS pill is instant with no live call.
• Content counts and recent posts are read with WP-CLI on the box — MZPanel talks to WordPress directly, with no login, no child plugin and no page-builder dependency.

Each of these loads independently and degrades to ”—” if it can’t be read, so a single slow query never blocks the page.

CLI & automation

Overview is a read-only view; the same data is available on the box through mz, and an on-box AI (ClaudeCode) reads it the same way:

By design, not a wp-admin clone

Overview deliberately does not embed Google Analytics or Search Console — those tools have far better dashboards of their own, and rebuilding them is a parity trap. MZPanel’s edge here is surfacing the host/ops health and log-derived traffic that wp-admin scatters and analytics tools omit. For everything else, the quick actions drop you into wp-admin in one click.

Gotchas & troubleshooting

• Rich cards are WordPress-only. The content, updates and recent-posts cards render for WordPress sites; other site types show just the basics.
• Needs the agent online. Live stats read through the agent; when it’s offline the site shell shows an “agent offline” banner and the last-known values.
• A ”—” isn’t an error. Each stat loads independently and falls back to ”—” if a single query is slow or fails, rather than blocking the whole page.
